Giveaway card I won :)

I don't often participate in giveaways, because I always end up not winning... lol... However, when I read about the card giveaway on Curious Gravy, I just had to check it out! I've never heard of linocut cards before... I fell in love with this sunny, bright card so I entered the giveaway - and for the first time ever, I finished winning a bit of Sunshine! I am simply delighted :)

Learning curve...

Trying to keep my promise to myself to learn and try new things... As Valentine's Day is just a month away, I've decided to try my hand at creating a Valentine's Day card that is NOT cross-stitch. I've used watercolor, dimentional piecing, punches, diecutting labels, stamping - even sponging edges and embellishing with brads and bling! I like the way it turned out, even if I can see areas I can improve on. You can see it HERE :)

Good morning, y'all :)

You can find my newest listings HERE and HERE. I have a couple of relistings, too if you care to check them out. My shop got a bit busy, all of a sudden - my inventory goes out far faster than I am able to replenish it! Yeah, I know it's a good thing - but it takes days to replace something that sold in matter of minutes! Plus, I have lots of custom orders to take care off before inventory... Sigh...

I've got only 3 more days of this school term, then it's vacation time! As you can see from the above statements, I'll be far to busy to rest. Though I am thrilled to start working with Dreamweaver, scary as it is...

New Baby Cards

Good morning, folks!

I hope your day started better than mine; a few things require some immediate attention and what do you know - due to finals this week, I am running extremely short on this precious commodity names TIME!!!! ughhhhh...

Here are two of my latest baby cards; I had a few that expired and my Baby Cards folder was getting a bit sad. I have a few more planned for the rest of the week, but I will post them as I get them listed. You can check out the listings HERE and HERE.

I've got to run to the Post Office to mail the 10 custom ordered bookmarks and a second package of 7 cards. Sometimes, it feels I sell these cards faster than I make them. Well, it's actually true - cross-stitching takes quite a bit of time to complete... And it takes me even longer, as I try to divide available time into many projects... I really need my vacation next week - 10 glorious, homework-free days!!!

New listings

Here are my latest cards, completing the Aqua & Brown/Get Well collection. They can be found HERE and HERE.

It's a drab, rainy day here in East Tennessee; it rained most of the night and it looks as if it will start again. We have been under a Flood Watch/Advisory since 11pm Sunday night... I wonder if I should get my boat ready...?

Week 7 ended pretty good; I had to create an original mock up for either a beverage product or a video game. Obviously, not being a video game type person, I choose to create a beverage label/package mock up. Of course I selected COFFEE, is there any other beverage as perfect as that...?? I think not! I had to do a sketch, hand drawn sketch - that's even worrse than Illustrator. LOL... I have to work on perfecting it in Illustrator, though I am having some trouble deciding on the right kind of fonts right now.

This week, I have to critique the work of 3 of my classmates - I hate doing that, I just do! It's hard telling someone that what you see it's not what they saw when they did the layout... Ughh

New cards :)

These plus four additional cards have been added to my Etsy Cards section. They were fun to do and far less time intensive than my cross-stitch cards :)

Well, Week 3 of this term is almost over: Adobe Illustrator is not as complicated as I feared (not so far, at least), College Writing II is requiring a 10 page/2000 words essay by the end of the term (Domestic Violence or Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease are my choices). And then, there is my Psychology class. Psychology is not my major, but so far it's my most demanding class. Very interesting material, don't get me wrong but a lot of "homework"... LOL

New Card

I've learned of this technique recently and, as I needed a sympathy card for a dear friend, I thought I would give it a try.

I have used white and pearlized cardstock, some Hero Arts gemstones and a cream sheer ribbon. The oval label was designed by me and printed out on my printer - my collection of stamps is just NOT big enough yet!

The "Palm Tree" series - cross-stitch cards and framed art

Symbol of heaven, of peace and plenty, as well as rest and hospitality, palm leaves found their way into many cultures and decorate many homes. Stitched with soft shades of olive greens and browns, this are must-have cards - to keep or give away! To check out the detailed stitches, go to my Etsy shop and check the close-up.

The back of the stitching does not show. The inside of the card is white and has been left blank for a personal message. The card measures 4.5 by 6 in.

Palm trees and palm leaves have always fascinated me; maybe it is their deeply spiritual meaning, as they seemed to have found their way into many cultures and religions. Or maybe it was the sense of total peace I got when looking at their beautiful and intricate shapes. I am not really sure what was the real reason , but after I've moved into my place, I have decorated my master bedroom with a palm tree "theme" - and always found it very calming.

The newest listings in my Etsy shop - I called them "Cream & Black". I was fortunate enough to have sold two already, less than a day after posting them. I like them all, but I especially love the one with the black velvet flower :)

Otherwise, I started my fifth term yesterday: College Writing II, Adobe Illustrator & Psychology. I am looking forward to what is ahead!

Two new listings!

Here are two of my newest listings in my Etsy shop. It was a very productive weekend, though I was starting to wonder if I should get hold of a little boat for myself! LOL... It rained hard here in East Tennessee; ground is still water-logged and that really messed up my tomato plants. It doesn't really matter though - I have not had tomatoes as delicious as these since childhood when I could not wait for dinner and would sneak in my grandma's garden and steal a tomato or two. Oh, sweet childhood memories...

I made good use of my newly set work area yesterday; I've made a set of eight black & cream cards which I will post a bit later.

I don't have much planned for today but some Photoshop work, cross-stitching, and finishing some more cards. It will be a fun day and I hope you will enjoy yours as well!

My new work area

Good morning everyone!

Just wanted to show you how my new work/craft area is shaping up. There are still details to figure out, but mainly you see my crafting table Jim made for me and the computer used to watch Stamp TV and play games if I ever get bored (my school computer is in my office, away from the TV... LOL)
