Two more cards :)

>> Saturday, August 29, 2009

I love these two cards! I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to the dragonfly's wings, so I mixed some Liquid Pearls and Diamond Stickles, both from Ranger Ink, and applied it to its wings. Then I added a Crystal gemstone for its eye. For the sun, I mixed Diamond Stickles and Distress Antique Linen and applied it to the sun and its rays. It's hard to see how nicely they sparkle in these static photos, though...

I hope you've enjoyed your visit to Faraway Designs on Etsy; hope to see you soon!

New Cards added!

Not quite sure why, I have been in a "maritime" kind of mood lately - fish, boats, ocean - you get the idea... Come visit my shop and check out the other additions to my cross-stitch cards! LOL

I've been sort of avoiding working on my Illustrator homework; we are supposed to draw a comic book-type character, name it, give it supernatural qualities... Well, what do I know about comic books or superheroes? NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING! I wasn't born nor raised here; my children were never interested in comic books or supernatural qualities... Therefore, this assignment completely stumped me. I have no idea where to start or how... LOL... Guess I will figure something out in the next two days :)

New cards :)

>> Sunday, August 23, 2009

These plus four additional cards have been added to my Etsy Cards section. They were fun to do and far less time intensive than my cross-stitch cards :)

Well, Week 3 of this term is almost over: Adobe Illustrator is not as complicated as I feared (not so far, at least), College Writing II is requiring a 10 page/2000 words essay by the end of the term (Domestic Violence or Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease are my choices). And then, there is my Psychology class. Psychology is not my major, but so far it's my most demanding class. Very interesting material, don't get me wrong but a lot of "homework"... LOL

What's your favorite?

>> Wednesday, August 12, 2009

I don't know if I am ready for Halloween, but I thought I should add a couple cute cards to my Etsy shop - it cannot hurt, can it...?
I'm on week 2 of my fifth term; so far things are going smoothly. Psychology is interesting: we are discussing the ethics of animal research, and we are supposed to take part in some studies. I've got to do that tomorrow, after Jim leaves.
Illustrator is something else; not hard but challenging, Trying to draw with a mouse - NOT easy! But I got about 50% of this week's work done, so I should be OK.
Well, I think I'll go try to get some sleep!

The newest listings in my Etsy shop - I called them "Cream & Black". I was fortunate enough to have sold two already, less than a day after posting them. I like them all, but I especially love the one with the black velvet flower :)
Otherwise, I started my fifth term yesterday: College Writing II, Adobe Illustrator & Psychology. I am looking forward to what is ahead!

Two new listings!

Here are two of my newest listings in my Etsy shop. It was a very productive weekend, though I was starting to wonder if I should get hold of a little boat for myself! LOL... It rained hard here in East Tennessee; ground is still water-logged and that really messed up my tomato plants. It doesn't really matter though - I have not had tomatoes as delicious as these since childhood when I could not wait for dinner and would sneak in my grandma's garden and steal a tomato or two. Oh, sweet childhood memories...

I made good use of my newly set work area yesterday; I've made a set of eight black & cream cards which I will post a bit later.

I don't have much planned for today but some Photoshop work, cross-stitching, and finishing some more cards. It will be a fun day and I hope you will enjoy yours as well!

New baby card listings

>> Wednesday, July 29, 2009

These cards are simply adorable, are they not...? Lots of detailed stitching, especially on the baby girl one: the ribbons, the stripes and French knots on the blanket... Both time consumming, but very much fun to create... Posted in my Etsy shop :)

New listings in my shop!

>> Monday, July 20, 2009

This morning, I bring you the two newest listings in my Etsy shop: "Beer" and "Wine a bit".

This one is for the man in your life! A detailed beer mug, foam and all, to remind him what helped him be dancing God - BEER! A dangling 3D brass charm embellishes the top of the card.

A whimsical card, with a side border of grapes, leaves and vines accenting a cute saying "Wine a bit... You'll feel better". The grapes have been stitched in rich garnets and dusky purple, leaves in soft greens and lettering in medium and dark garnets. A dangling 3D brass charm embellishes the top panel.

Gift tag sets posted :)

>> Thursday, June 4, 2009

I have been working for a few days on these tag sets (I would much rather stitch than take the photos I need... LOL). But here they are, finally posted on Etsy.

Of course, I HAD to post something for my TN folks! And I couldn't forget my absolute favorite holiday, either (it will be here before you know it!)

Last week of school - YIPPEEE!

>> Thursday, May 14, 2009

It is finally the last week of this term - then I have 10 glorious days of vacation! Well, not really - I have to re-work some of my Image Editing lessons, just for good measure and practice. Who was it that said "Practice makes perfect"...? They were so right!

I am so happy to be done with my Art History class; with any luck, I will never have to deal with this instructor - ever again! My final paper, due last week, was on "William Bouguereau and the idealized female form in the 19th Century'. Now, seriously - I'm just a plain ol' gal from East Tennessee, what do I know about the "idealized female form in the 19th Century"...? Not much! Hopefully, after I worked on that paper for two weeks, I'll get enough credit to pass this class. LOL

My last posted cards in my
Etsy shop seemed to have been a success - I sold two the same day they got posted! I wish I would have known about this long ago; most of my cross-stitched items were gifted to family and friends, even if they didn't really liked them as much as I did! Oh, well... LOL Here are a few of them:
