The Cross We Bear

>> Saturday, May 30, 2009

Whatever your cross, Whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine, after the rain....
Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall;
But God's always ready, to answer your call....

He knows every heartache, sees every tear,
A word from His lips, can calm every fear...
Your sorrows may linger, throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish, by dawn's early light....

The Savior is waiting, somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
and send you His love.
May God fill your day with blessings!

I wish I knew who wrote this beautiful poem, so I can credit it. I have been reading it for the last two days, and understand a bit more each time :)

I just received my award for making the Dean's List on January's term - that makes two up on my wall :)

New cards posted :)

I have posted 4 new cards in my Etsy shop: a baby card, a birthday card, and two Father's Day cards. They took quite some time to complete, but I am glad they are done!

It was "Back to school" today - how exciting! I had to read about 6 chapters for all three classes - that took some time... LOL... Tomorrow I will work on the 5 Illustrator assignments; I have never worked with vector images/ Adobe Illustrator, and it looks a bit complicated - at least until I get to learn all the Tools. The Writing class will be a bit challenging, but thank goodness that the Algebra class won't give me headaches :)
Well, I got to get going and stitch some more.
Y'all be good now, ya hear...?

My first Awards!

>> Sunday, May 24, 2009

I was so surprised to read a comment from BlueRose Kath, who so graciously passed on these awards onto me - thank you, BlueRose! How kewl is that!

Sadly, I have not been blogging a long enough time to pass these awards on to others - but someday I will :)

Finally done!

I have finally finished the "Flower of the Month" cross-stitched card collection; they are now all posted in my Etsy shop. Here is just a small sample (I can't post all 12 of them now, can I...? LOL) If you care to take a look on all cards, just pop in the shop - you never know what else is brand new in there :)

I woke up this morning with a big surprise: one of my cross-stitched toss pillows has sold to a customer in New York City. So tomorrow I have to part with one of my favorite items - but it's all good.

Wednesday I start my new term: College Writing I, College Algebra I, and Adobe Illustrator. I can hardly wait! Tuesday will be a good time for me to read the first couple of chapters, maybe even do some of the AI exercises :)
My coffee is calling my name, so are the two sets of Baby Announcement cards that need vellum inserts - y'all behave now!

Enjoying my vacation :)

>> Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I just got all my grades: A in Image Editing/Photoshop and Human Relations, and a D+ in Art History (he posted no points on my last three weeks of discussion submissions, and didn't post my points until my advisor took a look at it... guess by then he must've been pretty upset with me for pressing him for the points he was withholding, because I was 3 points away from a C) What a joke that was!

Otherwise, I have been working on finishing this set of 12 birthday flowers cards - I'm not sure why is taking me so long. I only have 5 finished and the 6th one is half way done. I'll take pictures of the six cards and post them on ETSY by the end of the day - if everything goes well :)

FINALLY!

>> Monday, May 18, 2009

I am done with Art History! I could dance with joy, let me tell you! I've got 10 days of vacation, then I start again on the 27th. This term I have College Writing I (ENG121), Digital Illustration/Adobe Illustrator(GD 211) and my absolute favorite, College Algebra I (MTH110).

Nothing else notable, not really... The little garden Jim planted for me on Mother's Day is doing well, although the rabbits have discovered my young sunflower seedlings and chomped off all the tender leaves. Jim planted some more seeds this afternoon, and covered them with a plastic mesh - at least until they grow more. My bellpeppers are starting to grow, and the tomatoes are doing good. Thank goodness for all the rains we had - it did wonders for all the vegetable gardens in the area.

Well, I'm done with the computer for the night - it's time for some relaxing cross-stitching :)

Zodiac Cards Finally Up!

>> Friday, May 15, 2009

Finally! I made more of the Zodiac cards and posted them today - hopefully by the end of next week, I will have the whole set completed!

I have so many plans for my week of vacation - I wonder just how much of my list will really get accomplished... LOL...

It looks like it will storm again in my little corner of the world; yesterday we had a Tornado funnel touch ground in Greenback, then "bouncing' up and down on Hwy 411. That was only about 15 miles from here, and frankly, it was a bit too close for comfort.

Last week of school - YIPPEEE!

>> Thursday, May 14, 2009

It is finally the last week of this term - then I have 10 glorious days of vacation! Well, not really - I have to re-work some of my Image Editing lessons, just for good measure and practice. Who was it that said "Practice makes perfect"...? They were so right!

I am so happy to be done with my Art History class; with any luck, I will never have to deal with this instructor - ever again! My final paper, due last week, was on "William Bouguereau and the idealized female form in the 19th Century'. Now, seriously - I'm just a plain ol' gal from East Tennessee, what do I know about the "idealized female form in the 19th Century"...? Not much! Hopefully, after I worked on that paper for two weeks, I'll get enough credit to pass this class. LOL

My last posted cards in my
Etsy shop seemed to have been a success - I sold two the same day they got posted! I wish I would have known about this long ago; most of my cross-stitched items were gifted to family and friends, even if they didn't really liked them as much as I did! Oh, well... LOL Here are a few of them:
